Invisalign for teens

At Sandygate Dental we would be thrilled to welcome you for a consultation to discuss your needs, and the goals that you have for your future smile. Upon examination of your teeth and mouth your dentist in Sheffield would be happy to give you advice as to a reasonable course of treatment for you. At this appointment, your qualified dental practitioner may suggest the use of invisalign clear aligners to help you on your journey to regaining some confidence in your smile.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a method of straightening the teeth through the use of clear aligners which fit snugly over the teeth (similarly to sports mouthguards). Multiple aligners are used one after the other to slowly help the teeth move into a position of greater alignment. Each one is slightly different from the last to help achieve this progressive movement. The amount of time it takes to get from a starting point to the end point is dependent upon each particular case, usually between 9 and 18 months. This would be something to discuss with your dentist in Sheffield to get a better understanding of the length of your personal treatment should you choose to use Invisalign aligners.

What can I expect from the Invisalign process?

To begin with, your first consultation would include a case assessment to determine your eligibility for Invisalign aligners using a simple set of photos. If it is deemed appropriate to move forward with Invisalign, at your second consultation you can expect to see an appropriately qualified practitioner who may photograph, x-ray, utilise 3D scans or impressions of your teeth to create a digital care plan. Because this plan is completely individual to you, it promotes better fit and comfort of your aligners. Following this you would be given a series of clear aligners and your dentist in Sheffield would advise you on how often to change to the next aligner in your set (usually every 1-2 weeks). It is recommended that you wear your aligners for 22 hours a day, this allows ample opportunity for you to remove them in order to continue with good hygiene routines. Every 4-6 weeks you will be asked to return to see your dentist in Sheffield who will check on your progress and pass your next set of aligners on to you. When your invisalign journey is complete, it is important to continue use of your aligners to maintain your end result.
