Journey to a brighter smile

Are you looking for a way to brighten up your smile with our dentist in Sheffield? You might want to mitigate stains which have you feeling self-conscious. Maybe you find joy in enhancing your cosmetic appearance and wish to make whitening your teeth part of this routine. Whatever the case is for you, we at Sandygate Dental would love to join you on that journey.

Teeth whitening treatment

Whitening one’s teeth is one of the fastest ways to enhance the aesthetics of your smile. Maybe you have a significant event coming up for which you would like to achieve that brightness in a time crunch. This is what you can expect from exploring teeth whitening with us in the dental practice.

You will be invited for a consultation with our dentist in Sheffield at which we would look at your teeth and assess what type of staining you have. Staining on the teeth can come as a result of many things including smoking, medical conditions and staining from particular food types. We will create a customised tray designed to fit snugly over your teeth. A bleaching agent is then utilised to activate the teeth whitening process. This bleaching agent is inserted into the tray where it transfers to your teeth while you wear it.

If you would prefer to whiten your teeth more gradually, then we have home teeth whitening kits available. When this is the chosen course of action, the trays are worn overnight containing the bleaching agent.

With both of these methods it is important to note that each individual case and result will vary. This is due to the fact that each patient will begin with staining of particular severity and the cause of this is also variable.

Porcelain veneers

If, alongside your staining, you also have chipped teeth or slightly misaligned teeth, then porcelain veneers could be a good option for you to consider. Of course, this should be in consultation with our dentist in Sheffield. It may be that you do not have any additional issues, but you are looking for a more long-term solution to stained teeth.

Porcelain veneers can be used to cover single or multiple teeth depending on the needs of the patient. They do not require a major procedure to have them fitted. The process involves gently filing away a thin layer of your tooth. A dental drill is used to achieve this. The custom fitted veneer can then be bonded to the remaining natural tooth, covering the newly exposed surface with a synthetic, tooth shaped replacement. Depending upon your needs and preferences the veneer can be adjusted in shape and length in order to close gaps, or cover misalignment. This process can be repeated on several or all of your teeth. Porcelain veneers can be a great way to enhance the cosmetic appearance of your smile and achieve a brighter tone.
